Here am going to give you a procedure how an elevator gets life. It is from my little knowledge , so if there is any error correct me.I accrue this knowledge from internet itself. it is not related to any company's secret data.

1.sales

Every elevator company will have a sales department. they will be trained to handle clients in a very pleasingly. They will find clients or may be clients will contact them for details. the clients will contact the sales of many companies , according to the performance, price, and many other criteria the client will select one company.

The selection process will include many discussions between company sales and the client.

The professionals working in the sales area should have great skill in many languages, way to speak , way to behave, and even more. They will make the contract with the client which includes the details of what are the duties of both and what are not. They will make clarification in that subject.
after that they will transfer the data to design department. if the lift shafts are already constructed then a team will go to site and collect many data about what is and what is not available.

2.Design

Design is nothing other than making an elevator configuration according to the clients resources. As the discussion with sales personal and client has finished , the design according to the demand is designed in the design centers of the company.

3. Production and Purchase

Then according to the design the elevator parts are manufactured or purchased. The control panel designing also will be done.

4.Erection contracts

After the production and purchase the erection contracts will be given to sub-contractors( some companies have their own installation team.

5. Transportation

Transportation of the material to the site is the next step.

6.Erection

The sub-contractors or the company team will carry out erection.
this is the difficult work, and it should be very perfect in order to deliver a good elevator.

7. Testing and Commissioning

this is also an impotent part, where the electrical connections and programing are getting done.

8. servicing

it is nothing other than the maintenance of the elevator
